2012 Suzuki Swift Sport Set For World Premiere in Frankfurt
The next generation Suzuki Swift Sport will make its global debut at the upcoming 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show. The first Swift Sport was launched in 2006 and this will be the first full model change since its launch.
The powerhouse of the 2012 Swift Sport is a 1.6 liter M16A naturally aspirated engine. The engine is capable of producing 134 horsepower at 6,900 rpm and has a maximum torque of 118 lb-ft at 4,400 rpm. The previous model had a power rating of 124 hp and a torque rating of 109 lb-ft. The new model will feature a specially developed six-speed manual transmission system.
The design modifications include a larger front grille and an aggressive low slung design. The automaker has revealed that the interior is designed to deliver essential sportiness along with a high-quality look and feel.
The car is engineered with the latest safety technology. The car features a light, stiff, light-absorbing body and seven airbags. The seven airbags include the driver’s knee airbag and curtain airbags. The car is fitted with the Electronic Stability Program (ESP). According to the press release of the automaker, the new Swift Sport has “superior cornering stability and brisker, more responsive” handling. This is achieved by an exclusive rear-suspension design and the incorporation of struts with internal rebound springs.
The Sport version is 40 mm longer than the standard version. The height and width is kept same as the standard Swift in the Sport version. Full details and specifications will be available after the Frankfurt release.
