2013 Ford Shelby GT500 Packs A Punch of 650 Horsepower

The 2013 model year Shelby GT500 will be a power packed model. The car will be powered by a supercharged 5.8 liter V8 engine, which produces a massive 650 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque straight from factory configuration. The upcoming 580 hp Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is the closest rival to this car. And with such high output, the V8 of the 2013 Shelby GT500 is the most powerful production V8 in the world.
Almost all the parts of this car have been optimised, from the engine to the brakes, suspension system and aerodynamics. The six speed manual transmission sytem has been upgraded and optimized to manage the massive torque output of the engine. The car only weighs 3,850 pounds and thanks to the low kerb weight, the car will have a top-speed of more than 200 mph. Also, the car is exempted from the federal gas-guzzler tax.
A GT500 Performance Pack is also being offered by the automaker, which incorporates SVT-designed Blistein electronic adjustable dampers with ‘normal’ and ‘sport’ modes and a Torsen limited-slip differential. Also, the Track Package adds an external engine oil cooler, rear differential cooler and transmission cooler.
Visually, the 2013 model year GT500 is similar to the current model year car apart from minor tweaks to various components. 19-inch wheels are standard in the front axle and 20 inch wheels at the back, which is similar to the current GT500. The wheels are wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar G: 2 tires. Also, the car is fitted with Brembo braking system to cope up with the massive power output of the engine.
The car will make its official debut at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show and will be available in the market from next summer.
