Acura’s New RLX To Debut At New York Auto Show
The fact that Acura is planning a replacement for the RL flagship sedan and that the vehicle will be unveiled at the 2012 New York Auto Show is quite well known. But what we hadn’t heard so far is that the vehicle will be titled ‘RLX’.
It was while speaking at a media event for the ILX compact sedan and the redesigned RDX crossover that Jeff Conrad, Acura’s Vice President revealed the new piece of information. However, not anything more was spoken about at the event.
Last October, Acura’s parent company Honda had spoken about a hybrid system’s specifications which almost fits the bill for the new planned RLX. According to the description, Honda had completed work on a new high output electric SH-AWD hybrid system that combines a 3.5-liter V6 with a pair of 20kW in addition to motors on both sides for the rear wheels. We expect the powertrain being spoken about here to be the same one that will appear on the RLX.
