Jaguar XJ Ultimate Launched at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show

The most expensive Jaguar flagship model, the Jaguar XJ Ultimate, has been launched at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show. A special edition, the Jaguar XJ Ultimate is based on a long-wheelbase, and offers luxury at its best, while the company also boasts that the new model will be more efficient than the existing Jaguar XJ. Most of the interior parts are coated with leather and also features a full-length leather-trimmed center console placed between the two individually tailored power-rear seats that feature massage, heating and cooling functions. The center console also houses a champagne chiller, controls for the 20-speaker Meridian surround sound system and motorised fold-down tables. If you want more entertainment, there are LCD screens for the on-board DVD/TV tuner, as well as a pair of iPads and keyboards located in the backrest of the front seats.

Powered by an all-new aluminium supercharged 250kW/450Nm 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine, the Jaguar XJ is expected0to reach 100 km/h in as little as 5.7 seconds. The same engine specifications will be also used in Jaguar’s new hero car — the Jaguar F-Type. Besides, the Jaguar XJ Ultimate is also available with two of Jaguar’s existing powerplants: the 375kW/625Nm supercharged 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine, and the efficiency-focused 202kW/600Nm 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine. As per reports, by 2013 the new supercharged aluminium 3.0-litre will entirely replace Jaguar’s elderly 283kW/515Nm naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8.

Moving to its exterior, the Jaguar XJ Ultimate bears a subtly modified front bumper and 20-inch wheels with an Ultimate-specific spoke design. Once the new vehicle starts selling, it will only be available in Celestial Black, but the company assures more XJ Ultimates, including Polaris White or any other shade of user’s choice will be produced. Apart from these, there are three interior colour choices for the new model, which provides customers with a truly bespoke experience.
