SEMA Preview: 2013 Lexus GS F Sport Set For Debut
The F Sport variant of the 2013 Lexus GS is all set to debut at the upcoming Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas next week. This car is built on the fourth generation GS 350 that was unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August.
The F Sport package will equip the GS 350 with several unique features. These include 19-inch wheels, F SPORT-tuned Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), thicker anti-roll bars and new larger front brakes with high friction pads. The rear-wheel drive (RWD) models will be equipped with 19-inch staggered width wheels and Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS). The unique interior features include a new 16-way power driver’s sport seat, unique interior design treatment and available F Sport exclusive Cabernet Red leather interior.
The GS 350 equipped with F Sport package will be powered by a 3.5 liter V6 engine with dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence. The engine will feature both port and direct injection system and is capable of producing 305 horsepower. The car sprints from naught to 60 mph in mere 5.7 seconds. A sequential shift six-speed automatic transmission system with paddle shifters and sport functions is standard in this model.
Rumors suggest that Lexus is also developing a high performance GS-F powered by a supercharged V8 producing around 550 horsepower, which will take on the new BMW M5.
The 2013 Lexus GS will be available in the market later this year and will be followed by the 450h Hybrid and F Sport variant in 2012.
