Subaru Unveils Impreza-Based XV Crossover

Subaru has unveiled its new small crossover, based on the Impreza, at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Titled XV, the company aims to compete with Nissan’s Qashqai with the unveiling. The XV features a unique body styling and also a large suspension that provides more than 8.5 inches of ground clearance. Overall, the crossover’s dimensions read 4,450mm of length, 1,780mm of width and 1,570mm of height.
The Subaru XV will be launched with a choice of three engine units – a 1.6-liter and a 2.0-liter gasoline unit, and a 2.0-liter turbo diesel unit. The 1.6-liter petrol version delivers 114HP along with a torque of 150Nm, and is coupled with a 5-speed manual or an optional Lineartronic CVT. The manual version accelerates from 0-100kmph in 13.1seconds, while going on to reach a top speed of 179kmph. The more powerful 2.0-liter petrol engine has output figures of 150HP and 196Nm, and is offered with either a 6-speed manual or an optional Lineartronic CVT. Acceleration for the 2.0-liter from 0-100kmph takes about 10.5 seconds.
The third version – the 2.0-liter diesel unit – generates a total of 147HP and 350Nm of peak torque, and is offered only with a 6-speed manual. The acceleration from 0-100kmph takes just 9.3seconds, while the top speed attained by the unit stands at 198kmph. The combined fuel economy returned by the three versions – the 1.6-liter petrol, the 2.0-liter petrol and the 2.0-liter diesel – feature figures of 6.5lt/100km, 6.9lt/100km and 5.6lt/100km respectively. Subaru has also installed the company’s AWD system, along with its Auto Start Stop System on all the vehicles. Availability of the XV in North America is yet to be confirmed.
