Volkswagen Hints At Beetle R Hitting Production

Germany-based Volkswagen has revealed its intentions to get the Beetle R into the production wagon, two months after its concept was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show. If things go according to plan, the most powerful version of the Beetle will sport an aggressive body kit, sports seats, improved braking system and a turbocharged 265 horsepower engine, mated to DSG transmission.
The Volkswagen Beetle R Concept that was introduced at the motor show earlier this year was dipped in a Serious Grey shade, while sporting 20-inch Talladega aluminum wheels. Popping the hood would bring the 2.0-liter TSI engine into view. Though the performance figures weren’t revealed, it was swaid to be at par with the Golf R and Scirocco R, which implies figures of 265 HP and 350 Nm of torque at 2,500 rpm. This does well enough to propel the Scirocco R from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.8 seconds, with the value of average fuel consumption for every 100 km rounding off to 8 liters.
The Beetle R’s production version will sport a large and lowered front bumper fitted with three air intakes – middle for sending air to the engine while the other two cool down the brakes – dual chrome exhaust pipes and large alloy wheels. Combined with these looks and impressive performance figures, the Volkswagen Beetle R is sure to be a legend killer.
