Honda to Reveal Skydeck Concept at Tokyo Motor Show
The company today released images of Honda Skydeck concept ahead of Tokyo motor show. Along with this Multi Purpose Vehicle, the company aims to display various-standard and alternative fuel concepts and models. The design of Skydeck shows how the IMA technology developed by Honda can be effectively placed in a range of cars for different use. The Skydeck is a minivan that is a perfect storm of non- standard- hinged door technology.
The Skydeck concept appears to have a relation to the CR-Z concept which was first shown off in 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. The six seater hybrid appears to have a flat roof line and higher rear-end. It lacks the sports features of the CR-Z that was shown in 2007. It comes out with a new-front line. It has a transparent all glass roof. The company has tinted the windows green to give an environment friendly look. It also has translucent green wheels. The Skydeck comes with centre mounted-battery to give extra- space inside . It has six seats with a pair of seats in each row.
Next to the Skydeck will be the revised CR-Z concept which is closer to production. The manufacturing of CR-Z will commence by next summer with assembly done in the U.K. According to Honda it is the first- petrol- electric vehicle to have 6-speed manual transmission. The engine of the car will be anywhere between 1.8litre to 2.5litre displacement. The European edition would cost around € 25000, and the full option vehicle would cost around € 30,000.
The company plans to show off a small fully electric car called Honda EV-N concept. This four seater car is based on the 40-year-old Honda micro car, but it comes with improved features like solar panels. The micro car is not planned for production. This vehicle would appear near the new Skydeck concept and the Honda Civic Type R Euro. The company is silent about the power and efficiency details. It is kept as a surprise to be revealed at the show.
