The ongoing Los Angeles Auto Show displayed several concepts that we hope will materialize in the near future. The next to jump on the bandwagon is Nissan with its Ellure concept. This concept sedan lies in between the Nissan Altima and Maxima in terms of size. The futuristic styling of the Ellure concept hints at the styling direction of the company’s future sedans, with an aim of bringing women back to them.

The concept shows off the first in-house hybrid system while the setup installed in the Ellure is a version of the arrangement which will be utilized in Infiniti M35h. Its Pure Drive hybrid system utilizes two clutches. One clutch is located between the engine and electric motor while the other is seated between transmission and driveline. Its supercharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder delivers 240 hp and 258 lb-ft.

This Nissan Ellure concept also boasts of spacious interiors - passengers can reap the benefits of a pop-out footrest while the panoramic glass roof is split by a V-shaped trim piece for mood lighting. Also included are clear acrylic bits in the grille, 21-inch wheels, an under-tray for airflow, wide display panel screens, intuitive touch interfaces, recessed lighting, floating headrests and lots more.

Nissan also plans to go green by utilizing recycled materials across the cabin such as eco-suede for seats. Meanwhile, the edge-cut wool carpet is said to be water-resistant. While we dont expect to see the Nissan Ellure in production form in the near future, we do expect to see the technology and features used in this concept to be put in use within a couple of years in other Nissan vehicles targeted at both men and women.
