For builders of race cars Honda’s new body-in-white Civic is a dream come true. The chassis saves time and energy spent on stripping out components for weight reduction and when compared to purchasing and converting a fully equipped production car this means significant cost reduction. Sales of the body-in-white civic started in July and the automaker has already delivered shells to licensed race teams. You can own your very own stripped-down Civic shell for just $3,500, but looks like you will have to wait a little longer for suspension components or an engine and drive train.
We hear Honda will soon be offering parts and racing components specifically designed for the 2012 Civic. The parts go on sale early next year and we hear that they have been specially crafted for the SCCA World Challenge and the Grand Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. More on this later.
