Earlier, we were told that Lexus had cancelled plans for a production version of its stunning LFA Roadster Concept for economic reasons but the LFA made a stunning surprise appearance at the D1GP Kick Off Drift event in Japan coinciding with the 2012 Tokyo Auto Salon. Finished in white, the LFA Roadster looked production ready though we aren’t too sure if this is the official prototype.
The roll bar just behind the head rests extending the width of the vehicle suggests that this could be a one-off custom job and in terms of design is something that the supercar could definitely have done without. We understand that since the LFA was not structurally designed to be a convertible, the solid roll bar gives lateral stability to the structure without a roof but we really wish Toyota had opted for a cleaner setup. However, the sound of the V10 engine confirms that the vehicle is a bona fide LFA.
