BMW 5-Series Sedan and Touring wagon make a prominent part of the giant auto-maker’s line up. Both models have improved year after year imposing a tough challenge on its opponents. Last month we saw the official release of  all-new 2011 BMW 5 Series (F10) with details and pictures. Now it is time for its Touring Wagon model to reveal some of its details, though unofficially.

The 2011 BMW 5 Series Touring was caught spied while it was testing at the open streets of Munich. Although in public, the new Touring does not seem to cover itself much. May be that is because the pictures of the sedan model were already released. The fact that the rear end was covered must give an insight to some major differences at the end when compared to the sedan.

The part of the car that was camouflaged in black and white includes parts of the roof, the quarter panels, the rear door and the rear bumpers. The rear-side windows will mostly feature the hoffmeister kink and the rear lights will be distinctive and will have LED technology. The Touring also should feature a platform largely based on the new 7-series like the 5-Series GT. That means lots of space, plenty of appealing style inside and out and to top it off, a good handling.

Power to ride this might wagon is expected to come from a series of engines riding the sedan. It includes  3.0-L turbo producing 306hp (225kW), the 4.4-L twin turbo V8 making 407hp (300kW) and the 3.0-L turbo diesel generating 540-Nm. If it is to feature the rumored twin turbo V8 engine, it could deliver a whopping 570hp (420kW) which will be mated to an 8-speed auto transmission.

As of now, the new BMW 5 Series Touring is expected to arrive in about12 months after the launch of the Sedan as a 2011 model.
