2012 Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabriolet Priced
Volkswagen has announced the pricing of the 2012 Golf GTI Cabriolet. The new model will range in price of $47,500 for the manual-transmission model to $49,650 for the DSG dual-clutch transmission version when it goes on sale in July in the United Kingdom. The first ever convertible is available for order now at Volkswagen’s UK dealerships.
The Cabriolet is powered by a 2.0-L turbocharged four-cylinder engine just like the Golf GTI hatch. It produces 207 hp and can run from 0 to 62 mph in a sprint time of 7.3 seconds. It has a top speed of 147 mph for the manual and 146 mph for the DSG. The new convertible is equipped with a hydraulically operated cloth top that can open or close in 9.5 seconds and it can also be operated in speeds of up to 18mph.
The interior and exterior styling features of the GTI hatch are incorporated in the open-top model. The styling features include the bespoke radiator grille with red edging, sport front and rear bumpers, side sill extensions, 18-inch alloy wheels, classic tartan ‘Jacara’ cloth upholstery or optionally leather sport seats and a flat-bottom leather steering wheel. Volkswagen in America revealed that there were no plans of releasing this convertible in the U.S.
