2013 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG Set To Launch in the US this Summer
Mercedes-Benz plans to launch its the upgraded 2013 Mercedes-Benz G550 and the new G63 AMG in U.S. later this summer. The 2013 Mercedes-Benz G550 this time will come equipped with new features such as a modified instrument cluster and center console. The 2013 G63 AMG is an addition to the line-up for both European and the North American markets, while the extra powerful, 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 G65 AMG is limited, and will not hit the North American markets. The major specialty found in the G65 AMG is its engine seen under the hood. The AMG models scheduled to release this year will feature a new double-louver grille and new bumpers with larger air intakes. Other choices of AMG include red brake calipers and 20-inch wheels and tires.
Like in the G550, the G63 AMG generates power from a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 engine producing 382 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque. Those numbers increases up to 536 hp and 561 lb-ft with the assistance of twin-turbo AMG-modified variant. It also features a stop-start system to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. More details including U.S. pricing of the upgraded versions will only be announced closer to the launch. The pricing for the 2012 Mercedes-Benz G550 will start at $107,975, including shipping fee.
