554,000 Honda CR-Vs and Pilots Recalled Over Defective Headlights
Honda has issued a voluntary recall of 2002 and 2004 Honda CR-V‘s and 2003 Honda Pilot‘s over defective headlights. Around 554,000 SUV’s are said to be affected by the recall in the United States.
According to the official announcement by the Japanese automotive multinational, a potential failure with the wiring of the headlight switch may cause the low beam headlights to become inoperative. Due to loss of the low beam headlights there is a substantial risk of a crash.
As a remedy, the company will inspect the affected vehicles, and if necessary, replace the components free of charge. No crashes or injuries have been reported related to the incident.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not posted any information regarding the issue so far. Honda will notify owners of the affected vehicles later next month. However for any further information, Honda can be reached at 1-800-999-1009.
