ABT Sportsline Offers V8 Engine with the 2011 Audi A8
As the Audi S8 isn’t expected to arrive anytime sooner than 2013, ABT Sportsline has bought an alternative for its European diesel fans. The German tuner has announced a diesel-powered AS8 sedan for its customers.
Under the hood of the 2011 Audi A8 rests a 4.2-liter V8 TDI as a base capable of producing 350-hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. ABT has now upgraded the powertrain to deliver a total of 385-hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. The turbo diesel engine of the 2011 A8 does 0-60 mph in 5 seconds.
ABT has “not changed the elegant glider into a racing car, but carefully into a confident and sporty automobile,” said the tuner in an official statement.
The exterior of the sedan receives subtle changes that include a new front spoiler, side skirt, rear wing (three-part) and a rear skirt with exhaust covers. A lower suspension, ABT CR alloy wheels wrapped in sport tires and available in 20- or 21-inch and matte black foil sum up the modifications offered by ABT for the A8.
