Aston Martin Announces Pricing Details of V8 Vantage: Starts at $118,370
Aston Martin announced the pricing of its newly updated 2012 Aston Martin V8 Vantage, which starts at $118,370 for the coupe and $132,870 for the convertible Roadster variant. Previously, the company had announced a revision to the V8 Vantage exclusively for European markets, and had later unveiled them at the Geneva Motor Show. The new V8 Vantage arrives with a slate of updates for the 2012 model year, including aerodynamic, visual, and mechanical tweaks. Some mild aesthetic changes are also made to the new model. Powered by a 4.7 liter V8 engine, the Vantage has been upgraded to generate 420-hp while the Vantage S generates 430-hp and 361 lb-ft.
The 6-speed manual transmission remains, but buyers who opt for a clutchless setup will gain a new transmission. The optional 6-speed Sportshift automatic has also been restored with a 7-speed Sportshift II. The steering rack is faster, and the stopping power of the car comes from of 380-millimeter vented cast iron discs with six-piston calipers. For extra precise control on steep inclines, the new braking system also features Hill Start Assist (HSA). Besides 10mm wider tires than before, the V8 Vantage also features a number of exterior styling tweaks such as new front splitter, air intake and a new rear diffuse.
Aston has announced that they will continue to produce the V12 Vantage, which is not changed for 2012 model. It is powered by a 6.0-liter V-12 engine making 510 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. The pricing details of the V12 Vantage have not been revealed by Aston, however, the previous year’s model started at $181,345.
