Beetle Convertible Expected Only In 2013

The new Volkswagen Beetle, which was unveiled at the 2012 New York International Auto Show, sported a number of changes in its visual appearance. For instance, the sportier appearance was accompanied by a much longer and wider body in comparison to the previous models.

Amidst all the excitement of the new Beetle, a rumor that had surfaced was that of a Beetle Convertible being on its way. The model was supposed to be introduced as early as the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. But even with the 2012 New York International Auto Show wrapped up, the convertible is just nowhere in sight.

Going by the current situation, it is predicted that the Beetle Convertible will miss this year’s sales season and will be seen sometime early next year. But once the car is launched, Volkswagen will be directing sales primarily towards young customers. With a 2.5-liter base model, a 2.0-liter Turbo and a diesel model in tow, the car seems just apt for the specified crowd.
