Chrysler Recalls 312,000 Minivans to Fix Issue with Airbag / Frontal Crash Sensor
Chrysler Group LLC has just revealed an upcoming recall on more than 312,000 minivans, that include the 2005-2006 models of the Chrysler Town and Country, the Dodge Caravan and the Dodge Grand Caravan. The recall is related to an issue with the airbag/frontal sensor module, where the crash sensor could crack under “certain environmental conditions”, allowing water to enter the sensor unit. Such a scenario could result in the sensor malfunctioning, and causing the airbag warning light to illuminate.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recommends all drivers who are alerted by the illumination of the airbag warning light to have their vehicles promptly serviced, lest have the airbags not perform to their full potential. Chrysler will begin a recall of the aforementioned models in June, 2010. Feel free to contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403 if you have any further questions.
