Citroen Unveils Numero 9 Concept

Citroen has released the first details of its Numero 9 concept car which will officially debut at the Beijing Motor Show. The Citroen Numero 9 Concept has elegant looks enhanced with further radical design elements. The concept car has a new ‘shooting brake’ body style which makes it eye-catching and it has some impressive technology as well.  The Numero concept is clearly inspired by the existing DS line, but offers a refreshed and new look to the design. Citroen says the Numero 9 ‘heralds the future of the DS line and signals the styling cues of the news three models.’

Following the DS3, DS4 and DS5, Citroen Numero 9 concept gives a new look to the DS line with a new take on the prestigious shooting brake design. The Numero 9 concept features an ultra-low stance of just 1.27 m, a long bonnet and 21-inch wheels. Also it consists of a 3m wheelbase, 4.93 m overall length and 1.94 m width, thus providing plenty of room for the rear occupants. The three glass areas in the roof create a nice ambience. The company has confirmed that the Numero 9 represents a glimpse at the future of the DS line’s design language.

The concept car features a floating roof, underlined by chrome trim with DS markings and glazed slide surfaces which flow into the rear window. A three-dimensional grille design flows into full LED-headlights which end in daytime-running lights. The concept is designed with plug-in full-hybrid technology that offers a claimed power output of 295 hp with fuel economy of 166 mpg in the combined cycle, a ‘boost’ function, 31 miles of pure-electric zero-emission range, and overall carbon dioxide emissions of just 39 g per kilometer driven. The boost mode enables the powertrain to push the vehicle from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.4 seconds. Citroen has confirmed that the next three models in the DS line- C-segment premium sedan, a sports utility vehicle and a D-segment executive saloon will contain the stylistic cues of the concept car.
