Most of the times when a concept car hits the roads it usually consist of  additional appealing features during production. The 2010 Acura ZDX will be an exception; it has stood by its initial design which the Acura officials had showcased in the New York auto show earlier this year. The key features that strike on the first look is its concealed rear door handles, panoramic glass roof and bold fender flares. Automakers have recently started experimenting with crossover models; BMW has the X6, and is now working on the 5-series Gran Turismo. Audi has plans to make a hatchback prototype of the A5, as these companies are trying to bring in a new breed of SUV-alternative vehicles. This is where Acura has been successful in developing the ZDX; it is a perfect blend of a sedan, SUV and a coupe.

The ZDX brings out its exceptional performance from its 3.7-liter V-6 engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 3.7-liter Single Overhead Camshaft (SOHC) V-6 all-aluminum engine will churn out 300 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. The machine is capable of superior high-rpm power, immediate acceleration response and outstanding low- and mid-range torque. Acura’s excellent acceleration and economic fuel consumption is the credit to the 6-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted with paddle shifters. Unique feature of the ZDX would be Acura’s Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system, providing the ZDX outstanding handling. The ZDX comes with standard 19-inch, 7-spoke alloy wheels.

Though the Acura ZDX looks remarkably sleek and compact, looks can be deceiving. The Acura can accommodate up to 5 passengers, but what will amaze everyone is the expandable rear boot along with an integrated under-floor storage area. The ZDX will come in three packages, base ZDX,  ZDX Technology Package, and ZDX Advanced Package.

The Technology Package adds real-time traffic and weather updates, a navigation system with voice recognition, a touch-screen display and reversing camera, as well as premium audio system with a 15 GB hard-drive.

The Advance Package, meanwhile, adds sophisticated technologies like adaptive cruise control, blind spot information system, active damper management, a sports steering wheel and heated and ventilated front seats with perforated leather trim.
