The details regarding the next generation Infiniti G sedan, coupe and convertible, which is set to be sold in 2014 summer, have been revealed. One of the most popular cars to come from Nissan’s luxury brand, Infiniti, the G sedan, coupe and convertible was first introduced as the G35 in the early 2000′s, mainly to compete against the BMW 3-Series. The next generation G will be made in the same platform, which was used to manufacture Infiniti’s recently announced models. The overall length and width of the sedan version is supposedly based on the Etherea concept.
The Infiniti G coupe version is expected to follow the sedan, and should hit the markets some time in 2015. The company also plans to develop a successor to the EX compact luxury crossover that could be based on the G platform. Even though some of the details of the G-series have been released, the engine specifications are not out yet. A hybrid version of the Infiniti G platform is also said to be in the works, even as the diesel powered G’s will be the only ones offering Mercedes-Benz engines.
Like the current models, it is pretty much expected that the new vehicles would deliver impressive performance stats, and we expect it to feature a completely new 530hp 3.7L twin-turbocharged, direct injected V6 engine. The Infiniti G series will be produced alongside the GT-R at Nissan’s Tochigi plant and the vehicle will be priced closely to the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG.
