Finally a year long wait, which started when the North American amusement park Kings Dominion announced its mammoth 5,100-foot long steel Giga-coaster, has come to an end. The adventurous and daring riders can now hop on and experience the thrill of a lifetime, as the most exciting ride in Kings Dominion’s 35-year history has debuted on Friday April 2, 2010.

The Intimidator 305, is named after one of stock car racing’s most beloved and obstinate drivers, Dale Earnhardt – “the Intimidator™”, along with the height of the coaster’s lift hill, 305 feet.

Want some goosebumps now? The ride takes you 305 feet above the ground and descends 300 feet at an 85 degree-angle and thunders along the track at 94 miles per hour during its three minute race to the finish. Its outstanding highest peak and the super-fast speed makes the Intimidator 305 the tallest and the fastest roller coaster of its type on the East Coast.

“Intimidator 305 represents the single largest capital investment in the history of Kings Dominion,” said Pat Jones, Kings Dominion’s vice president and general manager. And why not? A whooping $25 million cost to stand a first drop close to the height of the park’s landmark Eiffel Tower, the figures speak for themselves. The Intimidator 305 now becomes Kings Dominion’s 15th world-class roller coaster.
