Ferrari Raises 2-3 Million for Earthquake Relief

Ferrari announced an auction to raise money towards relief efforts post the devastating earthquakes that rocked northern Italy. The highlight of the online auction is a 599XX track car that sold for 1.4 million euros- equivalent to nearly $1.8 million and went to an American bidder. The car will be signed by Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo and F1 drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa who will deliver the car at the Italian Grand Prix.

Other items being auctioned are a nosecone from an F60(Scuderia Ferrari’s 2009 F1 car) sold for 23,000 euros($29k) , an engine from the constructor’s championship –winning F2008 racer that sold for nearly twice its reserve price at 80,000 euros ($100 k) , helmets used by Alonso and Massa and a racing suit worn by Giancario Fisichella.
