Fiat’s Green Initiative Comes as the ‘Uno Ecology’ Concept

Fiat introduced its Uno Supermini this week at Brazil and has now unveiled a concept study of the car called the ‘Uno Ecology’. As quite reflected from the name itself, Uno Ecology is a green car proposal that uses renewable materials, has reduced emissions and improved fuel economy.

The Italian automaker ahs not revealed any details about its new concept so far except few pictures. All we know is that the Uno Ecology uses a modified version of the standard car’s 1.0-liter flex-fuel gasoline engine equipped with Fiat’s start & stop technology. Amongst the other tidbits are the  photo-voltaic cells on the roof that use solar light to power various systems of the car.

Keeping the car green in the cabin as well, various renewable and recyclable materials have been used that include the likes of coconut fibers and recycled PET.  The car is reported to have been conceived and built 100 percent in Brazil, using Brazilian materials, workforce and technology. The further information is expected to roll out in due course of time.

Fait’s Uno is all set to go on sales this summer in Brazil followed by other South American countries soon after. Uno offers a choice of two new flex-fuel petrol engines that are mated to a five-speed manual gearbox that drives the front wheels.
