The older Chevrolet Malibu has often been featured as one of the best sedans available by various car magazines. Now that the Chevy brand is diversifying itself into distinct areas like SUVs, pickup trucks, sedans and hatchbacks with alacrity, it is time for them to come up with a revamped edition of the earlier Malibu.

The car is based on the new platform Epsilon II. Look wise, the front part of the sedan is similar to the 2011 Buick Regal, particularly the grille and the front headlamps. The spy cameras show that the rear end of the car has additional ornamentation on the trunk. The rear lights seem comparable to the ones on the Camaro. The deck lid converges to a flat, duck-tail structure that was previously seen in BMW designs.

The new Epsilon II platform from GM already has takers like the Buick Regal and LaCrosse. The new car is also getting wider and taller, along with a swankier interior. The interior style, design and the materials used are expected to be brand new. The stylish cockpit is one of the most talked about features in the new Malibu.

Thecar is expected to debut at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. No further news has been released regarding this vehicle. As time marches on, we are sure to get hold of more interesting spy pictures and details.
