The 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA4 AMG is a new premium compact sedan with more “coupe” styling. This new CLS baby was found undergoing testing in Europe, which revealed its first look to us. The German manufacturer’s all-new compact four-door ‘coupe’ will go on sale in Europe only by early 2014. For Australian customers it will take until late 2013 to hit the showrooms. The new CLS-class sedan is lively with an edgy styling, crafted to make it hard for the customers to resist. It is basically more compact and affordable compared to the brand’s successful CLS-Class premium mid-size sedan.

Mercedes did show a glimpse of the design of the all-new CLA at the 2012 Beijing motor show in April while unveiling the Mercedes-Benz Concept Style Coupe, which incidentally is a perfect combination of the front-end styling of the new A-Class hatchback with the sleek four-door layout of the larger, luxury CLS. Although 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class rides on a MFA platform (Mercedes Front-wheel Architecture) which underpins A-class and B-class, it is quite different in its dimensions because of its unique sedan styling. The CLA45 AMG is similar to C-Class premium-compact sedan in its engineering. It measures about 1.4 inches lower, nearly 2 inches longer, and 4 inches wider.

It features 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine which will generate an average of 265kW of power in excess of 400Nm of torque. Just like A- Class and B-Class hatchback, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class will be equipped with new-design 4-cylinder engines. All-wheel power is enabled, thanks to the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission which will also help in accelerating 0-100km/h in less than five seconds. It packs a high-output 340-horsepower 2.0 four and it would be offered with only manual or along with automatic transmission. It might also possess a CLA45 AMG badge, honoring AMG’s 45th anniversary. The four-door coupe sports, a muscular front bumper with a deep front spoiler, a rear spoiler, chunky side skirts, and a larger, more powerful brake package. It is expected to be priced around $85,000.
