When every other auto major is in the race to produce plug-in hybrid cars, how can GM stay off the field? The company is all set to land on the global platform with its state-of-art rear-wheel drive plug-in hybrid car – the Cadillac ATS. As part of its expanding business plan, General Motors is in a major overhauling process to enhance its electric automobile manufacturing capabilities. GM kept details of their plan of revamping a secret and made it public only last month.

According to the GM announcement, the company is looking to be the first in the US to design and develop its own plug-in hybrid electric motors. In the first phase, the Cadillac ATS sedan model is to pick up the GenNext Two-Mode hybrid system. The all-new Alpha platform forms the basis of the new design. Wagon, coupe, and convertible models will stay in the pipeline to follow suit, said a media observer.

The pioneering design of the GenNext Two-Mode General Motors rear-wheel drive hybrid system will house superior electric motors that are 25-percent smaller in size. The system will have the capability of producing 20-percent more drive power than the existing ones.

Media reports indicate that GM may start selling the new plug-in hybrid Cadillac ATS some time in the coming year. More details on the fascinating global debut are likely to arrive soon. We are expecting a major announcement shortly from General Motors on this issue.

It is about time for plug-in hybrids to come on board for the general public. My current vehicle is ready for a rest, I fear my saying no plug no rest buddy is starting to fall on deaf cylinders.

Or are you afraid I did not read Emily Post book on proper behavior on the internet.
