GrabCAD Gives Engineers the Chance to Design a Supercar
GrabCAD recently decided to give engineers the chance to pen a body for a ready-made chassis by 500 Group. Two hundred unique designs were completed and submitted in just 40 days. Based on community ‘likes’ the top 25% of designs were selected for screening in two categories: street and track. Each entry was carefully reviewed in terms of challenge requirements and the top 3 entries from each of the categories were listed from 1st to 3rd place in their original like order. A number of engineers have been called out for an honourable mention because the challenge yielded an extraordinarily high volume of quality entries.500 Group will produce one or more of the designs through a General Motors Special Projects agreement.
One skinless chassis has already been completed for testing. Equipped to make use of the E-Rod LS3, LS7 or supercharged LS9 V8 engines the chassis has a number of GM performance parts. Each concept body has plenty of renderings as well as full description. For more information head over to the GrabCAD website.
