Hyundai’s new Theta II GDI, a 2.4 liter, four-cylinder petrol engine, is expected to debut next year on the successor to Hyundai’s wildly popular Sonata. This new direct-injection engine has a compression ratio of 11.3:1 and produces 148kW at 6300rpm and 250NNm of torque.
The Theta II GDI, built over 46 months at a cost of AU$158 million, is said to have improved on the fuel efficiency by around 10 percent. One can look forward to seeing the entire line-up of Hyundai (and probably Kia) slowly migrating to this more efficient engine.
