The list of unofficial releases this week continues, with Jaguar’s XF Sportbrake following the Infiniti Emerg-E, the Volvo V40, Ferrari’s 620 and the Citroen DS4 Racing. The rear of the Jaguar XF Sportbrake leaked just days before the official premier at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The grainy images suggest that it could be pictures from a promotional brochure prepared for the car’s European launch.
The taillights and integrated chrome crossbar of the XF Sportbrake are almost identical to the XF Sedan. The roof tapers down to meet the thin chrome D-pillars, while a peaky roof-mounted spoiler extends over the rear hatch window. It focuses on practicality, combining a fast and tapered roofline with a spacious rear cargo area. Technical details have not yet been released. It is expected to carry over the same engine line-up from the XF Sedan. The XF Sedan includes a 2.2-L four-cylinder diesel with 187 hp and 450 Nm of torque. An interior shot shows the rear seats will fold flat and there also appears to be an additional storage compartment beneath the floor. A ski hatch will also be available.
When launched, the British car will compete directly against the Audi A6 Avant, Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate and BMW 5-Series Touring. Several spy shots and teaser images of this model have been released, but this leak has built up the excitement with the Geneva Motor Show just around the corner. Jaguar Australia Brand Manager, Kevin Goult said that initially the XF Sportbrake was likely to be a “retail order only” proposition inAustralia which means that cars will only come into the country when ordered by customers. Previous indications have suggested that orders fromAustralia could begin as early as towards the end of 2012, although Gout could not confirm dates at this stage. All the details of the Jaguar XF Sportbrake will be revealed atGeneva next month.
