Italian Sports Car Puritalia 427 Crafted To Honor 1966 Shelby Cobra
The Italians have crafted a car specifically to pay homage to the legendary 1966 Shelby 427 Cobra in the form of Puritalia 427. The person who redesigned 427 is Napoli-based Italian sports car manufacturer Puritalia Automobili as it saw a breach in the market for a high-end exotic roadster. The creation of the roadster initiated two years back when Puritalia hired designer Fabio Ferrante. “We decided to design and engineer the 427 simply because a similar car doesn’t exist,” said Puritalia founder Paolo Parente. “It is unique in design, style, and most importantly in the way we build it. The result was a powerful car using best in class technologies and materials to enhance and elevate the driver’s experience.” as penned by Torino native Fabio Ferrante.
Ferrante further explained that, their aim was to evoke the classic American muscle car spirit and merging it with modern styling with a touch of taste and elegance inspired from the Italian style. At the same time, without interfering the design of legendary roadsters of the sixties. Just like the original 427 Cobra, the Puritalia 427 will be lightweight sports car powered by a 5.0-litre V8 producing 445 hp in normal guise, and 605 hp if equipped with a supercharger.
The weight of the Puritalia 427 is around 1090 kilograms and sports a 50:50 front/rear axle distribution. It offers a six-speed manual transmissions with a limited-slip differential transmit power to the rear wheels. Puritalia’s roadster has a massive 335/30 series tyres controlling the power on a 20-inch alloy wheels at the rear and 19-inch wheels in front. It is equipped with independent suspension and a Brembo brakes, which employs 380mm six-pots up front and 345mm fours at the back.
