Maserati previews GranTurismo Sport, Replaces GranTurismo S
The Italian luxury car manufacturer Maserati previews today its very new GranTurismo Sport ahead of the imminent 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The new car according to the company is a replacement to Maserati’s one of the top selling cars in the coupe’s lineup, the GranTurismo S.
While GranTurismo Sport might seem a more facelifted version of its predecessor, nevertheless, there is lot that company adds to the car in terms of power and style to make it stand out. First on the list is a more powerful re-engineered version of Maserati’s 4.7-liter V8 engine whose output has now been bumped up by 10bhp as compared to the S model thus producing a total output of 454-horsepower. The car can now sprint from 0-100kph (0-62mph) in under 5 seconds. Also the car will be fitted with a six-speed torque converter automatic as standard with a six-speed sequential manual transaxle box offered as an option. Other specifications and fule efficiency readings are yet to arrive.
On the outside of the Maserati GranTurismo Sport we see a quite refurbished front fascia that features restyled front bumper with larger air vents and new front headlights and LED daytime running lights. Also the rear lights have been replaced by darker tail lights.
There aren’t any specific details for the cosmetic upgrade to the cabin, however new set of front and rear seats and a new steering wheel with a more muscular and sporty look are definitely on the cards. More details as well the pricing for the Maserati GranTurismo Sport is expected to arrive only closer to its debut in Geneva in the beginning of March.
