Most of you have probably heard about McLaren Automotive’s plans to bring a 2+2 sports car, as this news has been making rounds across the web for a long time. However  executives from McLaren Automotive have clearly ruled out the possibility of the ompany planning anything beyond its 2 seat mid-engine sports car.

In a recent text message sent to the folks at InsideLine, McLaren’s PR chief, Mr. Mark Harisson has denied any of such claims saying that “we are only planning ‘pure’ high performance sports cars — two seats, mid-engine.” The news about the company working upon  a new range of cars to complement the MP4-12C and all subsequent two seaters emerged as McLaren placed a huge order for carbon monocoques. But all these hopes have now been crumbled to dust and all that we will get from McLaren is a true sports car with two seats and engine behind the driver.

For a quick refresher, the McLaren’s upcoming MP4-12C is powered by a ‘M838T’ 3.8-liter V-8 twin-turbo engine capable of producing around 600 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque ,mated to a McLaren 7-speed Seamless Shift dual clutch gearbox (SSG).
