Mercedes Benz Announces Record Sales
Mercedes Benz has yet another reason to smile, thanks to the company’s exceptional sales performance in the first half of the year. The company has revealed that, with 100,391 passenger cars delivered to customers around the world, it has been the best July sales ever marking a 2.7 per cent increase in comparison to the sales figures in July 2010.
During the period ranging from January to July 2011, Mercedes Benz has managed to sell 710,922 units compared to the 654,418 units sold during the same period in 2010. This translates as a significant 8.6 per cent increase in this year’s first half. In the United States alone, the company recorded a sales hike of 9.4 per cent last month with 19,006 units sold. Deliveries to overseas customers marked a 7.3 per cent increase, with 129,932 cars being delivered. In the Asian region, China, Taiwan and South Korea emerged as the key markets.
In China, the sales figures rose by 41.7 per cent owing to a total of 106,422 deliveries (75,127 in 2010) in the first half of 2011. At the same time, sales figures more than doubled in Taiwan and South Korea. In Mercedes Benz’s biggest market, Germany, sales hit a 10.1 per cent increase, with the CLS and the S-Class being amongs the favorites. The company’s sub-brand Smart also displayed a commendable performance with 8,521 units sold in the last month alone, and 63,322 units sold from January to July, translating to an increase of 7.2 per cent.
“Demand for our products is higher than ever before. We expect strong sales for the second half of the year and we want to continue to grow. Overall, we are in an excellent position and are set to sell more than 1.35 million Mercedes Benz passenger cars and Smarts in 2011, which would make it our all-time best year”, said Executive Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, Dr. Joachim Schmidt.
