The 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG that is headed to the 2010 LA Auto Show amalgamates advanced performance, attractive design and elevated efficiency. This four-door coupe comes with a new AMG V8 bi-turbo engine that produces up to 550 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque alongside the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed Sports Transmission. Compared to the preceding model, this Merc features an improvement in fuel economy with 16 mpg city and 21 mpg highway.

The 2012 CLS63 AMG has an athletic streak with stunning exterior and interior designs. It comes with optional active LED high-performance headlights while LED Daytime Running Lamps are standard. The CLS63 AMG owners can take advantage of the new eight-cylinder motor dubbed the M157. The AMG’s 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine can generate a peak output of 525 hp and torque of 700 Nm. Add in the AMG Performance package,  and these figures sees a boost up to 557 hp and 800 Nm. Each variant of the Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG can accelerate from naught to 62 mph takes 4.4 and 4.3 seconds respectively, and the top speed is 155 mph

The Mercedes- AMG exclusive AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed Sport Transmission contributes to its unprecedented fuel economy. Unlike the conventional automatic gearbox, the MCT transmission does not require a torque converter and instead utilizes a compact, wet start-up clutch. The front axle setup equips a 0.94 inch wider track and pairs efficiently with electro-hydraulic AMG sports steering. The 2012 CLS63 AMG has been intelligently designed with low weight and high stiffness.

Inspired by AMG super sports car, the new CLS63 AMG features a distinguished hood, wider fenders that flashes the ‘V8 BiTURBO’ logo and an exclusive AMG front skirt with cross-brace dipped in black. The cock-pit delivers a wrap-around effect and the high-line flows in a single sweep. The AMG flagship model adorns standard burl walnut wood veneer while Piano black lacquer and carbon-fiber trim elements are optional.

The 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG is expected to be launched in the US market during summer 2011.
