MINI Clubvan Production model Officially UnveiledMINI Clubvan Production model Officially Unveiled

The new MINI Clubvan which was unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show is now confirmed for production and will be available in the market in autumn 2012. The Clubvan is the first utility vehicle in the British based automaker’s lineup. The car is described by MINI as the world’s first premium compact delivery van. The model is aimed at customers with small businesses that are looking out for a small utility vehicle. The MINI Clubvan is related to the MINI Clubman. The Clubvan has the same design on the exterior and the cabin as the Clubman including the speedometer and the rev meter.

The Clubvan has no rear seats. It comes with a closed-off load area which extends from the rear doors right up to the driver’s and front passenger’s seats. It also features a split rear door and a wide-opening right-side door called the Clubdoor. The Clubvan is equipped with blocked-out rear windows and classed as a commercial vehicle, thus taxed at a lower rate. The interior features include flat loading floor and side walls trimmed in high-quality carpeting, 12-volts socket in the cargo area and six attachment loops recessed into the floor at the edge of the load area. The rear compartment’s load space is 860-L with maximum payload of 500 kg.

MINI Clubvan will launch with three different models and engines. The MINI One Clubvan gets a 1.6-L petrol engine delivering 97 hp. It can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.1 seconds and has a top speed of 185 km/h. The Cooper Clubvan is powered by a 1.6-L petrol engine that produces 121 hp allowing for a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 9.8 seconds and a top speed of 201 km/h. The Cooper D model is equipped with a 110 hp four-cylinder diesel that accelerates the van from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.2 seconds. It has a top speed of 197 km/h. All three models have a standard six-speed manual gearbox while the Cooper D model has an optional six-speed automatic transmission. The new Clubvan will make its first debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this week.
