New Ford Escape Offers More Space
The all-new Ford Escape has a whole new look and a lot more cargo capacity than the current model. This small vehicle also provides spots to help drivers and passengers to stay organized thus avoiding clutter. The second-row seats fold flat with the touch of a button. This feature allows the stowing of different types of cargo. The spacious second-row and standard cargo tie-downs enables the Escape to handle loads both large and small.
“The new Escape has more cargo space than the previous model as well as a number of storage bins and other unique storage features,” said Eric Jackson, vehicle architecture supervisor. “Whether you have an umbrella, parking stub, cell phone, sunglasses or large water bottle, the new Escape has a specific place for it where it won’t get lost or roll under the seat. The hidden storage under the second-row floor is great for keeping items secure and out of view.” The most unique feature of the Escape is that it is the only SUV to have hands-free power liftgate which makes it easier to stow gear. A gentle kicking motion under the center of the rear bumper activates, unlocks and raises the liftgate when the driver is in possession of the Escape key fob. The liftgate height can be manually adjusted or programmed to satisfy the needs of the customer.
The Escape also features storage places for specific items in the interior. The unique storage spots include overhead visors with ticket holders, hidden storage bin under the second-row floor, small umbrella holders on both the driver and passenger seat trim panels, a card holder below and a stowage bin above the center of the instrumental panel, center console space to hold a 1-L bottle and MP3 player or CDs, eight cup holders, rear cargo management system and USB ports in the center console and a 110-volt inverter located at the back of the floor console.
