Porsche Initiates Recall Program To Fix Headlight Issue

Porsche AG has initiated a recall program worldwide involving the Cayenne SUV. The recall was initiated after several complaints about the headlight coming loose or falling off were received. The recall covers about 102,000 vehicles around the world.

The vehicles that are facing the problem belong to the model years 2011 and 2012, and were manufactured at some point of time between March 2010 and January 2012. The headlights on the SUV are secured by a lock. The problem arises when this lock is not secure. The problem usually occurs in cases when the driver is rapidly accelerating or braking heavily while rounding a corner.

Of the total Cayennes that have been recalled, a fifth belong to the United States and Canada. So far there have been about 39 cases worldwide wherein the headlight has come loose, and 68 cases where it fell off. The problem regarding the headlights was first spotted in October 2010.
