Renault Twingo Gordini RS Revealed







The Renault Twingo Gordini is one amongst the best names in the automotive business, and is a pseudonym first used in the 1960′s during the time of Amédée Gordini, the man who developed almost 200,000 Renault vehicles over a period of 20 years. Not only that but he also single handle managed to achieve some of Renault’s greatest sporting laurels.

Renault Twingo Gordini RSRetaining the traditional looks of classic Gordini models, the 2010 Renaultsport Twingo Gordini employs the characteristic striking blue with two white racing stripes. The Twingo Gordini will be available in a opalescent black finish as well. Exterior changes include gloss black front and rear bumper inserts, contrasting white finish on exterior door mirror housings, rear tailgate spoiler, fog lamp surrounds, extra tinted rear windows . 17-inch alloys that come with a polished face and a choice of inner rim finished in black or blue.

Moving into the cabin, the “Gordini-ness” of the car is even more evident in the interior:  A leather covered blue and black steering wheel, blue gearlever gaiter, Gordini badge gear lever knob, a blue rev counter with white surrounds, Gordini floor mats, blue leather door panel inserts, blue leather trimmed dash board cowl and sport seats. An optional Gordini key fob is also available. Comfort and convenience include automatic climate-control, automatic headlamp and wiper activation, cruise control, speed limiter, fully disconnect able ESP, an 80W radio-CD with fingertip steering wheel mounted remote control, an upgraded MP3 audio system and iPod connectivity. A panoramic sunroof, individual sliding rear seats and curtain airbags come as standards.

On the Engineering side, there are no changes, meaning the Twingo Gordini gets the same 133 horsepower, 1.6 liter, 4-cylinder engine as the Twingo Renault Sport 133. Customers have the option of a ‘Cup’ chassis that offers a lower ride height, stiffer springs and dampers.

To sum up, the Renault Twingo Gordini is a hot little hatch that is sure to turn heads. The car will debut at the Atelier Renault on the Champs-Elysées, in Paris on January 10, 2010. Sales in the UK will commence in March 2010.
