Report: Aston Martin Cygnet Shipping to States by 2012
Even if you haven’t been able to really develop any fondness for the Aston Martin Cygnet, that doesn’t stop the car from trying to grab some piece of the U.S. market. According to what Automotive news reports, Aston Martin is bringing its small sized urban car to States as early as 2012.
The angry looking Cygnet that slots in perfectly in the small car segment will only be sold to existing Aston Martin customers. the Aston Martin Executive says that car will be available at an estimated price tag of $35,000.
Based on the Toyota iQ, Cygnet will be powered by a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine but by late 2013 an all-electric version with a 60 mile range is expected to arrive. The company has also pinned high sales goals for the car as it forecasts a 30 percent boost in the automaker’s sales on 2009’s levels. Aston Martin sold about 4,000 cars, which was comparatively lower than 5,800 mark of 2008. For 2010, Aston Martin is predicting sales of more than 6,000 units.
As of now, the news must be taken with a grain of salt as there is no official confirmation from Aston Martin.
