Subaru FT-86 Sports Car to use Legacy Platform, Generates 260 hp
Fresh reports about Subaru’s version of theĀ Toyota FT-86 sports car have been spotted on the web. According to the auto blogosphere , the FT-86 will be underpinned by a revised Legacy platform with the Impreza‘s rear suspension.
FT-86 as we all know draws its power from a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter boxer engine with approximately 200 hp (149 kW /203 PS). The Subaru model on the other hand will be more powerful as the updated 2.0-liter turbo churns out 260 hp (194 kW / 264 PS) of output for the car. Both models will have a six-speed manual (from the Impreza), but an automatic transmission will likely be offered as well. In order to curb the extra weight as well price of the car, Subaru is said to have ruled out the idea of making its FT-86 four-wheel drive.
Look wise, Subaru will be more aggressive than its Toyota rival. While similar body panels will be featured on both the models, the Subaru version will feature a unique grille, modified bumper, and different wheels.
The car is expected to make its debut in 2013, with prices starting from $25,000.
