Indian automobile manufacturer, Tata Motors, has big plans in the pipeline for its growth across the world. With a new sports car, a BMW 3 series rival and the fourth Range Rover, the company is hot on wheels to make a niche in the industry. And now the latest news that has surfaced on the web is that Tata is also planning to build new factories in China over the next two years  for manufacturing Jaguar and Land Rover.

Announced by CEO of Tata Motors, Carl-Peter Forster, at a press conference in London, Tata has a a production target of around 30,000 units per year.  He said that Tata will invest more than $1.5 billion in Jaguar Land Rover every year over the next five years. The company plans to build the Defender, Discovery and Freelander models from UK-supplied kits. The models produced here will be most likely sold within the country or in other emerging economies in Southeast Asia.

China currently accounts for 8 percent of Jaguar and Land Rover sales and it is one of the world’s fastest growing economies.

“China is one growth market,” said Forster, “We need to grow everywhere else as well. We need to grow in China, in Europe, South Africa, South America. We have lots of growth markets.”

Tata however is firm over its decision of closing one of its UK factories. In Forster’s words, “It is much better for a car company to have one large factory, than two small ones.”
