Tesla is fast racing ahead with new releases of electric cars and the latest being Model S. Now the electric car maker Tesla is stepping towards being an automaker. There was recent news about Tesla motors releasing its third generation vehicle, the mass market models which are available in both Sedan and Crossover flavors apparently with around $30,000 by 2015. Tesla’s chief designer Franz von Holzhausen told a publication that the future models of Tesla will be more distinctively styled, even better than the Model S. People who are familiar to his work have full faith in his creativity and styling and are looking forward to see the culmination of his craft.

The highlight of the conversation was a revelation when Holzhausen revealed that Tesla is thinking about building a pickup truck. He said, “There will be a time and place for us to develop something around a pickup. That’s a market for which the torque of an electric motor would be ideally suited.” Tesla has many high end vehicles to its credit. It has an entire range of electric cars which includes its high-end Roadster, its Model S sedan, the cross-over SUV/minivan the Model X, and a $30,000 mainstream electric car. Since they have achieved most of their dream endeavors, it only makes sense if they want to venture to the next level.

Pickup truck forms a major part of the market. But at this moment it suffers the brunt of atrocious fuel economy. During this situation, an electric drive train will definitely enhance its environmental impact; it will also be a welcome change for the drivers as it will give them an amazing experience behind the wheel. It might take a while for us to actually see this vehicle from the California automaker.
