Volkswagen Unveils the Exclusive Beetle Fender Limited Edition
In 2011, Volkswagen had displayed a concept car at the IAA in Frankfurt that was designed to pay homage to the legendary American company, and that car was the exclusive Beetle Fender. This concept car had swept the visitors off their feet with its amazing looks and a powerful sound system (400 watts) to go with it. Thrilled with the kind of response it got, Volkswagen decided to make it into a production car. Volkswagen is now ready with this limited edition rock music-inspired Beetle which is all set to make its world premiere at the 2012 AMI in Leipzig.
The VW Beetle Fender Limited edition comes in pearlescent black and includes a dashboard finished in the same sunburst wood finish that has adorned many a classic Telecaster or Stratocaster guitar. Fender’s 400-watt audio system features a boot-mounted subwoofer and illuminated front speaker mated to a color touch screen. Each Beetle Fender features the RCD 510 audio unit with full-color touchscreen and MDI multi-device interface, front and rear parking sensors, 2Zone climate control, bespoke ‘Cheyenne’ cloth seats with leather-look side bolsters and bi-xenon headlights.
Other features include brushed chrome mirrors, Fender badging and 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. Turbo models have sport seats. The limited edition Fender is exclusively available with a 2.0-litre TDI engine generating 138bhp, and the choice of a six-speed manual or DSG gearbox. The VW Beetle Fender is priced at £23,015 (RRP OTR) for the manual model, and £24,610 for the DSG version and bookings for order are open on 2 January although VW UK is currently unsure of just how many cars it will receive.
