Ward’s Latest is a Retake on the Original Ford Bronco

Jonathan Ward founder of Icon has made a name for himself by crafting some of the most detail-oriented interpretations of classic cars on the planet. The Icon Bronco with a hand-built frame, modern running gear and electronics underneath features the vintage style of a late 60’s SUV. Ward usually recreates classic cars with modern mechanicals installed and still runs TLC(Toyota Land Cruiser and/or Tender Loving Care). It so happens that TLC brought near-concours quality to the lowly four-wheel-drive Toyotas of the 1960s.

Ward’s latest creation is a retake on the original Ford Bronco. The original stock Bronco did not have
any sense of modern proportion inside. This version is powered by a 412-hp Ford 5.0 Coyote V8 that is amplified by the high-flow exhaust and stainless-steel muffler. An Aisin-Warner AX15 five-speed manual transmission is standard but you can also get a Ford 4R75W automatic. The original Bronco frame is updated with Art Morrison crafted two-by-four-by-0.180 steel rails. Prices vary all over the map, but you’re mostly looking at something between $150,000 and $17,000.
