China is soon expected to overtake Japan as the worlds No. 2 economy. I’m guessing you need no further proof to substantiate that claim than the expensive array of high-end luxury (& exotic) cars that were seen at a single wedding in China. I’m sure most of us don’t have as many “rich” family and friends to claim.

   I drive a 500 HP M5. Even pulling onto the freeway or passing someone, I enjoy 6k+ RPMs to 8400 RPMS (where the car makes 500 HP) Granted, I don't regularly work the car through all 7 gears, but I completely enjoy the opportunities to make max HP when I can (safely and responsibly) I'd imagine 90%+ of people with 500 HP cars have plenty of fun. Prius' suck.

    Richi, I think they can afford to take their cars to racetracks should they feel the urge.
    One day you too might be able to afford a fast car, and if you can use its horsepower properly I suspect you will thoroughly enjoy the experience.
    With regards to the article, these must be some well connected people to have such a flamboyant event consummating their marriage.

    Yes, they are not very fuel efficient. Everyone always says "When are you actually going to use 540 horsepower on the road?", and the answer is, you won't (unless you want to be on an episode of cops). Why do you think people would buy these cars then? So they can take them to a RACETRACK and race them! Of course they're never going to be able to use the cars' full potential on public roads, that's why racetracks were invented in the first place, for people who want to drive fast.

    Wrong…. Sometimes a vehicles ability to maneuver more quickly helps avoid an accident rather than panic & hit the friggen brakes. I'll take 540hp over a prius.

    Where there's a will there's a way. You might not like this "way", but I'm sure if they can afford to upkeep those cars they can also afford the penalties of these ways as well. They also do have things called "race tracks" that are made available to the public.

    But I'm sure 98% of Exotic car owners drive them for the look/name/status.

    A 540 HP car isn't about going fast, it's about remembering when you were 10 year old boy that draws a race car with flames and fire and machine gun headlights. It's about the realization of your dreams. Yes a Ferrari is a ludicrous car for any practical consideration, but *that's the point* of owning one. Most of them that are made will get up to about 110mph ONCE when the owner is on a test drive and trying to impress the salesman, then never again. Who cares?

    Umm, per capita GDP in China is under $3500 per year. While it may become the second biggest economy in total it also has about 4x the population of the US which still has an economy about 4x larger than the 2nd biggest economy (Japan). The US economy is over $14 TRILLION with 300 million people, the Chinese economy is about 4 TRILLION with 1.3 billion people.

    There must be more to this story. While there are probably plenty of marriages involving two wealthy families, I've never heard of a family where every single member made the lifestyle choice of driving ostentatious sports cars. Maybe the couple or their family is involved in the exotic automobile industry? Or provided rentals as part of the chosen wedding theme?

    It is actually customary in China to rent cars for someone's wedding. Though this is a little extravagant; most people just rent a black Mercedes or BMW.

    China has a factory which can make replica Ferrari,Lamborghini,Porsche,Bentley to name a few.

    100% same as original, only engine is different spec. Bodywork/casing/interior all same as oliginal.
