2011 Dodge Challenger to Come Loaded with Viper’s V10
We have seen special-edition Drag Pak models from Chrysler before. But the 2011 Dodge Challenger will be something to look out for, with Viper chipping in its V10 to power the model.
The 2011 Mopar Challenger Drag Pak comes loaded with an 8.4-L V10 engine, which used to power the now-dead Viper, delivering up to 600 hp and 758 Nm of torque. These figures will surely be higher for the new Challenger taking into account that Mopar got the engine calibrated for drag duty.
A solid rear axle with upgraded gears and wheels and tires specifically meant for a drag race, competition fuel system with fuel cell, a new gauge package, plus a two-speed automatic race transmission complete the performance package. Frills like windshield wipers, power steering and rear seats have been cut off to make the car lighter.
The standard white Dodge Challenger starts at $85,512, with an extra $6800 allowing the buyer to choose other paint schemes. An added $7950 Competition Package includes an eight-point roll cage, six-point safety harness and a mesh window net. Plus buyers can also opt for a Mopar body logo wrap. With production set to begin next month, orders are open now at Mopar.com if you are serious about your hobby and do not want to miss out as just 70 of the 2011 Drag Pak Challenger will be built.
