Ford Plans to Deliver 1.6 Million EcoBoost Engines Annually by 2013

According to the new plans of Ford Motor Co., the company will deliver 1.6 million EcoBoost engines annually by 2013. Mark Fields — Ford’s President of the Americas, recently revealed company’s new strategy and according to him, the idea of delivering 1.6 million engines exceed its target by 100,000 units. The new engine verities include a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine and a 1.0 liter 3-cylinder EcoBoost engine. Both are due next year and the company expects those help the push.

Ford will pursue consolidating its global platforms. The company will be down to 10 families of vehicles by 2017, as per Raj Nair — head of product development.

“We will have the youngest passenger car lineup over the next five years,” Nair said.
