McLaren MP4-12C Spyder Drops Its top
It was previously reported that McLaren is on its way to develop a potential convertible version of its MP4-12C, which debuted last year. According to the latest reports, the car known so far as the McLaren MP4-12C Spyder, is due to hit roads later this year. It is also expected that the new model will carry a hard-top as per earlier reports. Besides the drop-top, don’t expect the convertible MP4-12C to change much from its coupe sibling.
The automaker revealed the engine specification details of the new model. Powered by a 3.8L twin-turbo V8 engine, which produces 592-hp at 7,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 443 lb-ft between 3,000 rpm to 7,000 rpm, the 2012 McLaren Mp4-12C is the automaker’s top-line vehicle. The McLaren MP4-12C is expected to sprint from 0-62 mph in just 3.3 seconds with a top speed of 205 mph. Of the total 0-62 mph time, the Corsa tire option shears 0.2 seconds and also when it accelerates 0 to 124 mph in just 9.1 seconds, the Corsa tire option goes down by 0.2 seconds.
The quarter mile run takes the McLaren MP4-12C 10.9 seconds at 134 mph. Stopping from 62 mph can happen in 100 feet. The pricing of the vehicle starts at $231,400.
